“puttā ma'tthi dhanaṃ ma'tthi”iti bālo vihaññati

뿟따 맛티 다낭 맛티이띠 발로 위한냐띠

atta hi attano n'atthi kuto puttā kuto dhanaṃ.

앗따 히 앗따노 낫티 꾸또 뿟따 꾸또 다낭

▣ “내 아들들이다, 내 재산이다.”라며 어리석은 자는 괴로워한다. 자신도 제 것이 아닌데,

어찌하여 아들들이, 어찌하여 재산이 [제 것이겠는가].

▣ 실로 ‘내 자식, 내 재산’이라고 어리석은 자는 괴로워한다. 자기도 자기 것이 아니거늘 하물며 자식,

하물며 재산이랴!

▣ "These sons belong to me, and this wealth belongs to me," with such thoughts a fool is

tormented. He himself does not belong to himself ; how much less sons and wealth?
