[Dhp9-121]

māppamaññetha pāpassa “na man taṃ āgamissati ”,

   맙빠만네타   빠빠싸  “나  만  땅  아가미싸띠”

udabindunipātena udakumbho pi pūrati,    

 우다빈두니빠떼나  우다꿈보  삐 뿌라띠

bālo pūrati pāpassa thokathokam pi ācinaṃ.

발로 뿌라띠   빠빠싸    토까토깜  삐  아찌낭

▣ “그것은 내게 오지 않을 것이다.”라며 악행을 가벼이 여기지 말라.

     물 한 방울씩 떨어지는 것으로도 물 항아리는 가득 찬다.

     어리석은 자는 조금씩 (악을) 쌓으면서 악으로 가득 차게 된다.

 

▣‘그것이 내게 닥치지 않는다.’라고 악을 가볍게 생각하지 말아야 하리. 물방울이 방울방울 떨어지면 물단지가 가득 차듯, 어리석은 자는 조금씩 조금씩 모은 악으로 가득 찬다. 

      

▣ Let no man think lightly of evil, saying in his heart, It will not come nigh unto me. Even by the falling of water-drops a water-pot is filled ; the fool becomes full of evil, even if he gather it little by little.

udabindunipātena udakumbho pi pūrati

 우다빈두니빠떼나  우다꿈보  삐 뿌라띠

dhīro pūrati puññassa thokathokam pi ācinaṃ.

 디로 뿌라띠   뿐냐싸     토까토깜  삐  아찌낭

▣ “그것은 내게 오지 않을 것이다.”라며 선행을 가벼이 여기지 말라.

     물 한 방울씩 떨어지는 것으로도 물 항아리는 가득 찬다.

     지혜로운 이는 조금씩 (선을) 쌓으면서 선으로 가득 차게 된다.

▣‘그것이 내게 닥치지 않는다.’라고 선을 가볍게 생각하지 말아야 하리. 물방울이 방울방울

   떨어지면 물단지가 가득 차듯, 슬기로운 자는 조금씩 조금씩 모은 선으로 가득 찬다.
